More Salt Spring Island

We're back in Victoria today, but I want to write about our trip to Salt Spring Island yesterday. We started at the Cheese factory that has cheese tasting, outdoor tables, ice cream for those who don't like cheese, dogs for entertainment, and a self guided tour of the cheese making business to kill time waiting for the cheese tasting to begin.

We had lunch at the Burger Bar in Ganges, right on the waterfront near a marina. Looked at some books in an old fashion book store.

We drove up Mount Maxwell, a rough, narrow, steep gravel road, and I was surprised to see regular cars at the top. We had the Pathfinder, and it was no problem, but I'm not sure I would take the Matrix or our bikes. Great view, though.

Last we went to see one of Pauls friends from back east who now lives in a Cob house on the island. I was surprised, later when researching cob houses, to find a picture of her and her house on the internet.

Pics: someone we met on the ferry with a TU250 done up for long distance touring; also a VW bus, icon of BC.
