Saltspring Island

We left our motorcycles behind today, and took the ferry to Saltspring Island with Paul in his Nissan Pathfinder. So far, I have not seen a lot of hippies. Mostly tourists and goats. First we stopped at the Saltspring Island Cheese Factory, and tasted some cheese. Now we are parked at Ruckle Provincial park, which seems to be a working farm that is designated as a park. So that gives me some time to update my blog while Mary Ann and Paul go to check out the historical farm buildings.

I will now fill in about yesterday, when Paul took us on a tour of Victoria. We went on the free guided tour of the parliament buildings, where we learned interesting facts. Such as: BC used to be the only place where the sun set over the British Empire. Because, on the original flag of BC, the picture of the setting sun was at the top, and the British flag was at the bottom. The current BC flag has the Union Jack at the top, and the setting sun at the bottom. We also found out that the BC Liberal Party is actually Conservative, and there is no party called the Conservatives in this Province.

While walking around, I came to the conclusion that Victorians are most afraid of seagulls. They are big, plentiful, and accurate.
